Scientists assert that Ayurveda was in use already in the time of Indus Valley Civilization 3300 - 1300 BCE or even earlier.
The main idea of Ayurveda is of striking a balance of 3 key dohsas. These are 'Vata' (responsible for entire movement of the body, creative activity of mind & imagination). 'Pitta' (responsible for metabolism and digestion). 'Kapha' (the cohesive earth-water element, it is responsible for nourishment to the body). The elementary co-relation of these 3 elements that existed when we were born should be sustained throughout the life, if we want to lead a healthy life.
